I have reviewed the tech guide for the Hilti KIWK HUS EZ's capacities in grouted CMU. It appears that the allowable loads are based off of a minimum masonry strength of 1500psi. If a stronger masonry (f'm) is provided, can the allowable loads increase? If so, please provide relevant information.
Hi Brian,
The testing that Hilti has for the KH-EZ installed into grout-filled CMU with a compressive strength of 1,500 psi. If you are going to be installing into grout-filled CMU with a higher compressive strength, Hilti does not have any specific testing for other CMU blocks of a different compressive strength. Therefore, you would need to use your engineering judgement and/or on-site testing to verify the capacity of the anchoring system.
If you have further questions, please reach out to hnatechnicalservices@hilti.com.
Regards,
Ashley
