Installing HIT-HY 270 with screen tubes is required. The load capacities reflect testing with screen tubes. There are no load reduction factors for not using the screen tubes. Because your application falls outside the scope of the product’s testing, we have seen engineers use methods like onsite testing to help determine if the connection is acceptable.
Ultimately, all design decisions are at the discretion of the Engineer of Record (EOR) on the project.
