Hilti HIT-RE 500 V3
We are using a 1-1/4" diameter rod that will be epoxied with the RE 500 system in concrete. What is the maximum diameter of the hole in the concrete? Contractor drilled a 1-5/8" hole in the concrete. Is this adequate?

Hi John,
If your application requires ICC-ES approval for HIT-RE 500 V3 with a 1-1/4” threaded rod, ESR-3814 publishes a 1-3/8” hole diameter requirement. However, Hilti has published extended testing for HIT-RE 500 V3 with large annular gaps. The technical bulletin lists a maximum nominal core bit diameter of 1-7/8” for a 1-1/4” threaded rod. The use and approval of this technical bulletin is at the discretion of the Engineer of Record for the project.
Best,
Sam
