We noticed on the hilti website when searching at
https://www.hilti.com/c/CLS_FASTENER_7135/CLS_CHEMICAL_ANCHORS_7135
and clicking on the down arrow by specifications for each the -A and -R product type that only -A shows acceptable for grout-filled masonry. When you look at ESR-4878 it indicates in section 3.1 that -A or -R can be used in grout filled masonry. Which is correct?
Also, when specifying Hilti Hit-Hy 200 V3 on drawings, is it ok to not indicate -A or -R and leave this up to the contractor? Or should it be specified? My understanding is this is related to many site conditions that cannot be determined by engineer and should be left off drawings and allowed for contractor to determine best type for project.
Your thoughts are much appreciated. Thank you.
Hi Matthew,
Thank you for reaching out. We can confirm that both versions of HIT-HY 200 V3 (A/R) are suitable for grout filled masonry, per ESR-4878. Thank you for bringing this discrepancy on the website to our attention.
The decision of the language to use when specifying any of Hilti’s anchors will be at the discretion of the Engineer of Record. For further technical questions, please contact hnatechnicalservices@hilti.com.

Katelyn
