What kind of Hilti product can I use as a fire-stopping (2-hrs) coating for steel plates and angles? I am designing openings in a concrete reinforced slab where I am reinforcing the around the openings with these steel members.

Hello,

I would recommend sending in a email to our Steel Protection Teams email box with pictures so we can have a better idea of the condition you are looking to address (USSPEng@hilti.com) . I would double check what testing standard the rating needs to be in accordance with. Our firestopping products are tested to UL 1479 (firestopping penetration systems) and UL 2079 (firestopping joint systems). The fireproofing testing standard that we test to is UL 263 (fireproofing for structural steel members).

At first glance, this questions seems to be more about firestopping, to restore the rating of a floor assembly. This could be for a blank opening in a fire rated floor assembly, or for penetrations through the rated floor assembly. If this condition is for firestopping please send in the condition information through the Hilti Construction Platform for additional assistance with your condition.

Thank you,
Alex Hernandez
