Firestop for existing CMU wall pipe penetrations

Hello, I am seeking a firestop system that would work for metallic pipe penetration into an existing CMU wall. It is unknown whether the CMU is UL classified. Please advise if/which firestop can be used.

Hello Hannah,

Thank you for reaching out to the Hilti Fire Protection Design Team to assist you with your firestop engineering needs. One of the most common systems we reference when there's a metallic pipe penetrating through a concrete wall/CMU wall is WJ1067 for 1 or 2 hour fire-rating, depending on the thickness of the wall assembly. Although your CMU wall assembly is not UL Classified, we may still be able to provide you with a rated solution through an Engineering Judgement.

The HILTI CONSTRUCTION PLATFORM (HCP) is the home for all of your Fire Protection Engineering needs, including Engineering Judgment requests. You can find more information on how to access this new platform here: hilti.com/ej (US) or hilti.ca/ej (Canada.)

Along with HCP, Hilti is excited to announce our new mobile app for all your firestop needs: Hilti Firestop Selector. Using the Firestop Selector app gives you easy access to the Hilti Fire Protection Design Team from the jobsite, on the road, or in the office to request a new EJ, an EJ Revision, or ask a Question anytime, anywhere. Hi Anthony, I would like to submit my question through Engineering Judgement. What would be the charge for this service? Thank you.
