firestop concrete from below

We have been using Hilti FS-1 for firestopping floor penetrations in a new concrete-slab building. We need to install firestopping from below to close pipe and duct penetrations through the ceiling slab of this unit, and have no access to the top surface of the slab. Can you tell us if FS-1 is appropriate for this application, and if not, recommend one more suitable? We will also need the UL listing for this condition. Thank you for your help.

Hello,

I have attached 4 underside install systems that utilize FS-1 Max (some also involve mineral wool) which should get you where you need to be dependant on dimentions and some other factors. Please take a look. If there these systems do not meet your needs, we can look into an engineering judgment.

Please see attached EJ request form for your review. We will need the following information inserted into the request form to provide you with an engineering judgment to match your specific field conditions:

1. Job information and contact info
2. Desired F-rating (ex. cold smoke seal or 0hr., 1hr, 2hr….)
3. What type of construction assembly is being penetrated (ex. wall, floor, concrete, gypsum), UL design of construction assembly (ex. U456), or product data sheet of assembly
4. Type of penetration (ex. individual, multiple, PVC, steel), max. diameter or max. size of penetration, Pipe insulation? OR Type of joint (ex.head of wall, wall to wall, ect…) ?
 5. min. and max. annular space from the penetration to the periphery of the opening, sleeved opening? What type of sleeve (steel, plastic)? OR width of joint
6. Suggested Hilti products (ex. FS-One Max Firestop Sealant, CFS-BL Firestop Blocks)

Also, please attach any pictures or sketches of your condition for clarity when submitting your request form to usfirestopeng@hilti.com.

After submitting the completed EJ request form, you may want to check on the status of your request. To do so, send your original EJ request form to EJstatus@hilti.com and we will reply back soon with a status update.

Thank You for choosing Hilti as your Firestop Expert!
