Fire Rating on the Underside of an Existing Wood Stair Stringer

I am fitting out a small commercial space and have a sloped ceiling due to the staircases of the 2nd floor tenant spaces. The existing is not rated and we are updating it per code. I am looking for a detail that will provide a 2 hour rating on the underside of the stair. Would I just run 2 layers of rated 5/8" gyp screwed to the underside of the stringer? I've attached a marked up photo of the existing condition. Please advise. I appreciate your help and look forward to hearing from you. Thank you and have a great rest of your day!

Hello David,

Unfortunately this is outside of the scope of what we do here at Firestop. We are able to restore or extend ratings of rated assemblies, we aren't really qualified to tell customers what can be done to an assembly to give it a rating. You may want to reach out to a gypsum manufacture to see if they can provide guidance for this.

Thank you,

Michael Vu
