I am an architect in NYC and your representative provide

We are building a building over the railroad. Because of the
noise from tracks, we need to provide sound isolation details in our structural
members. The building is Type 1B construction and it requires 2HR fire rating
on the primary structural frames. The detail attached (on S-960) is shown for
an interior column sound isolation. The sound isolation pads will be applied
between the top of the column and the bottom of the precast concrete slab. It would be
great if you could provide some material suggestions or details.
We are looking for the details working with the criteria below.
- The sound isolation details happen in the apartment unit ceiling. Aesthetic should be considered.
- Durability, Least maintenance is required.
- A minimum 10-year warranty should be provided.
I attached the isolation detail sketches and the isolation pad information for your review.

Therefore, we will need to review your application for an Engineering Judgment (EJ) to accommodate the firestop application you describe in your inquiry. EJ's are custom details showing your exact application with the firestop components required to maintain the stated ratings.
