For threaded rod in brick with HIT-HY 270 adhesive, the Product Technical Guide, Volume 2: Anchor Fastening, Edition 22 Table 17 lists allowable adhesive bond in multi-wythe brick, which ESR-4144 Table 3 replicates. The Guide also has Table 16, which is not replicated in ESR-4144. Why is Table 17 and 3 only for seismic loads, and why is Table 16 not replicated in the ESR?
Hi Travis,
Thank you for reaching out. The data present in ESR-4144 (and Table 17 of the Anchor Fastening Technical Guide for HIT-HY 270) is intended for use in seismic retrofitting applications with unreinforced masonry. Thus, Section 2.0 of ESR-4144 (see image below) states the purpose of the document is for HIT-HY 270 being “designed to resist short-term loads imposed by earthquake or wind.”
Table 16 of the Anchor Fastening Technical Guide for HIT-HY 270 contains standard data for anchoring into multi-wythe brick. Hilti does not currently offer an ESR containing testing information for multi-wythe brick walls as a base material, only the Technical Guide.
