Hi,
I am looking to "drill and epoxy" a dowel into concrete. Orginally the #10 rebar had a 5'-9" splice length to the #10 rebar in the concrete.
What Hilti expoy product should I use for this applcation?
What size hole should be drilled in the concrete? (1 1/2" ??)
What depth should I drill the hole in the concrete?
Additional info:
- Concrete strength = 4,000 psi
- Rebar in concrete is black Grade 60
- Dowel rebar is green epoxy coated Grade 60
Hi Stefano,
For large diameter rebar at deep embedments, Hilti would recommend considering the HIT-RE 500 V3 adhesive. For a #10 rebar with the HIT-RE 500 V3, the hole diameter would be 1.5". In terms of embedment depth, lap splice needed, bar spacing, etc. the engineer on the project will have to determine these. You can find the technical information for HIT-RE 500 V3 here. Unfortunately, Hilti doesn't provide anchor/rebar design services so we are unable to determine the embedment depth needed.
Regards,
Dani
