Edge Distance for Welded Studs
Please cite a reference for minimum edge distance of a welded stud on a plate? PROFIS tells me that I do not have enough edge distance for a 3/8" plate with 3/4" edge distance to the 1/2" welded stud. I cannot find anything in ACI 318-11 or AISC 14th to support the limit that PROFIS is requiring. Please advise. Thanks. MGM

I looked at the reference you gave. It seems odd to me that multiple codes are used in the design of a concrete anchor, especially without stating in the output.
The reference states that AISI is used with the concrete anchor. At the same time, I understand satisfying AISC codes for steel construction as ACI references AISC and vice-versa. I believe this is the first time I have seen AISI mixed in with a steel and concrete design.
At a minimum, I would suggest to Hilti Profis that it be made very clear how the edge distance is limited by an otherwise "strange" code.
