Hello,
I'm working on an historic tax credit renovation of a 2-story Type IIIA building with a second floor event space. The roof consists of long span steel trusses and the roof decking is concrete. The structural frame and roof are required to be 1-hour rated by IBC and the ceiling is required to be a hard ceiling per historic tax credit (NPS guidelines). We want to do a 1-hour gyp ceiling connected to the bottom chord of the trusses but we need to run ducts and conduit between trusses and diffusers and lights penetrating the ceiling. Is there a product that will satisfy the penetrations? Also, I'm not sure what code provisions apply for the items within the assembly.
Thanks!
Holden
Hey Holden - I've attached a system that I think may work for your condition. If it doesn't, we will need to take a look at providing an Engineering Judgment.
Hilti is proud to announce the launch of our engineering website, the HILTI CONSTRUCTION PLATFORM (HCP). This platform will be the home for all of your Fire Protection Engineering needs, including Engineering Judgment requests. You can find more information on how to access this new platform here: hilti.com/ej (US) or hilti.ca/ej (Canada.)
