When using the old downloadable version of the Hilti PROFIS DF Diaphragm program, you were able to input a given length for each of the zones in a given area. (For example, if you had a 120' long diaphragm, you could break it up into (3) equal zones at 40' each.) Each of these zones could have a different load applied and different fastening patterns. When calculating the diaphragm deflection of this area, it took into account these different zones, including the length of each.
The current online version of PROFIS Diaphragm Design still allows you to into different zones for any given area, but I cannot find where to input the length of the each zone. How does the Deflection Calculation module calculate the diaphragm deflection of any given area if there are multiple zones used with unknown lengths? For large roof areas, being able to reduce the amount of fasteners while maintaining proper limits on deflection is highly desirable.
Hi Kevin,
The web-based version of PROFIS Engineering's Diaphragm Design Module only allows you to select one deck panel width per design. Multiple zones with different loads and fastening patterns may be added within one design; however, all zones within one design must have the same deck panel width.
For more information on designing within the Diaphragm Design Module, please see this technical guide here.
