Diameter vs Embedment Length

For a design, the provided bolt is an inch and a half in diameter and the necessary embedment depth needs to be determined. In your software, the largest bolt size is an inch and a quarter, and gave an embedment length. Would it be safe to assume the larger bolt would have an identical embedment length?

Hi Alexander,

Most of Hilti's post-installed anchors have supportive testing up to a maximum nominal diameter of 1.25". For steel elements greater that 1.25", Hilti has conducted additional testing with HIT-RE 500 V3 with large diameter threaded rods. Additional information may be found in the technical bulletin for large diameter elements for HIT-RE 500 V3.

For more assistance, please reach out to hnatechnicalservices@hilti.com or give us a call at 877-749-6337.

Regards,
Matthew
