Design loads vs Characteristic loads

Hello,

Do I understand correctly that if the Design loads option is checked, this means that loads should be specified already multiplied by the safety factor and the program will no longer multiply these loads by the safety factor?

And, on the contrary, Characteristic loads, these are loads not multiplied by the safety factor ?
