Concrete edge breakout and pryout for anchoring to concrete on metal deck

Hi, seems like Profis doesn't check the concrete edge breakout andpryout for anchoring to concrete on metal deck.
I have anchors in the soffit lower flute and I wonder if there is a good explanation why the software doesn't check concrete edge breakout / pryout.
Thanks

Hi Jerson,

For concrete over metal deck applications, concrete break-out or pry out would either not occur due to the support of the metal deck, or would not be the controlling failure method in the event that it did occur. Therefore, we can confidently omit those calculations from the analysis.

Thank you Dani. Just out of curiosity, has this been tested in a lab? Or so far is a theoretical assumption?

Hi Jerson,

PROFIS Engineering pulls all information from the ICC ESR, which is a third party evaluation service report that tests anchors per code requirements and acceptance criteria from ACI. All of the load data and technical information comes from rigorous testing, so there is test data that backs up the assumption that concrete breakout and pryout are not controlling failure modes.

Dani
