Concrete Cure Time and Install of HIT-RE 500

Concrete Cure Time and Install of HIT-RE 500

We have a concrete pad being poured with epoxy anchors called out. Our drawing notes state a 28-day cure time prior to installing HAS-V-36 rod with HIT-RE 500 epoxy. This is based on residual water in the concrete preventing bonding, per engineer. Is there a way to install this sooner? What concrete strength are we looking for? When we achieve full strength, are we then allowed to follow the instructions that say for wet concrete, double the cure time to achieve proper install with wet concrete? What information can be sent to justify shrinking this time down prior to install of epoxy anchors, or are we stuck with 28 days?

Hi Tim,

ACI 318 Section 17.1.2 requires adhesive anchors to be installed in concrete having a minimum cure age of 21 days at the time of anchor installation. Further information on this can be found on page 10 of Hilti's Anchor Fastening Product Technical Guide.

Ashley
