Checking Torque on 3/4" KB-TZ2 Concrete Wedge Anchors

I used 3/4" KB-TZ2 Concrete Wedge Anchors to install an automotive 2-Post Lift. Both the ALI (Automotive Lift Institute) and the lift manufacturer recommend checking torque on the anchors periodically. I have read on this forum (Re-Torqueing of Mechanical Expansion Anchors) the recommendation to re-torque wedge anchors no more than 3 times. Which advice should I follow?

Hi Noah,

The Ask Hilti question and answer that you are referring to is Hilti’s guidance on retorquing a mechanical anchor. Hilti recommends that retorquing of a Kwik Bolt anchor be limited to 3 times to reduce the likelihood of failure from pulling the mandrel through the sleeve.

Is retorquing, where you loosen the nut than tighten to specified torque, the same as checking torque, where the nut is NOT loosened at the same specified torque is re-applied, the same. It seems odd that all the Automotive Lift Manufacturers and the Automotive Lift Certification Institution would recommend checking torque every 2 months when you specify only 3 times for the life of the anchor.
