We are applying a layer of the CFS SIL GG sealant to a metal surface. After sometime [wait time for inspections] we are applying another layer of the same sealant on top for adhesion, a layer of mineral wool over that new sealant layer, following by another layer of CGS SIL GG and then closing it up with flashing. Essentially a sandwich. My concern is the sealant to sealant bonding [the second layer]. Is CFS SIL GG going to bond well to itself as long as the application of it is thorough or is there a primer you suggest to use?
Most likely there would be adhesion issues as silicone to silicone does not adhere well. I am not familiar with any system that would require you to install in such a manner. If you want to submit an Engineering judgement (EJ) or question on Hilti Construction Platform (see below), we can provide assistance if you would like.
