Can I use intumescent paint & spray fire proofing on the same structural member?

I've got a concealed steel floor beam that needs a 1 hour rating. Currently, we are calling for the entire beam to get intumescent painted because small portions of the beam will have tight clearance with the soffit below. 90% of the beam does not have clearance issues, and could be spray fire proofed without conflict. I'd going down this path to investigate if there could be cost savings for the project.

Good morning,

Thank you for using ASK HILTI!

In some cases, we can create engineering judgements for a transition from intumescent fireproofing to cementitious fireproofing. However, this is done on a case by case basis. If you would like us to look more in depth, please feel free to submit for an engineering judgment request to www.hilti.com/EJ and we would be happy to take a look at it for you.

Thank you,
Austin Griffith
