We want to install anchor once freshly poured concrete reaches 2,500 psi.
Hello Paul,
Concrete that has cured for less than 28 days is referred to as green concrete. For information on anchoring into green concrete, please reference Hilti’s Anchor Product Technical Guide Section 2.1.2 on pages 9-10. Click here to access the guide from Hilti’s website. Post-installed mechanical anchors and post-installed adhesive anchors have different considerations, which are both discussed in Section 2.1.2. I have attached a snippet below of Section 2.1.2 on page 10 of the guide that specifically references adhesive anchors in green concrete. Typically, site testing is recommended to verify the fastening capacity into green concrete applications.
Hilti has additional testing performed with Hilti HIT-RE 500 V3 and Hilti HIT-HY 200 V3 adhesive anchor systems in concrete members prior to the 21-day ACI and CSA requirements. Please see this technical bulletin. See installation conditions, design parameters, and Table 1 within the technical bulletin for more information for the Engineer’s consideration.
Ultimately, all anchorage decisions are at the discretion of the Engineer of Record on the project. For additional questions, please reach out to hnatechnicalservices@hilti.com.
Kind regards,
Sinan
