Bearing area calculation for pullout

Bearing area calculation for pullout

Using CIP anchors, I specified a plate or washer but understand that this doesn't affect the bearing area used for the pullout calculation. Can you please send an example of how the bearing area is calculated? Assuming a 3/4"diam anchor with only a hex head embedded, I would expect a bearing area of 0.82in^2, however the report is saying 0.65in^2. Thank you for your time.

Hi Joe,

Information on bearing area for a cast-in place anchor in PROFIS Engineering can be found on page 87 of the PROFIS Engineering Design Guide. This guide contains information on how PROFIS Engineering performs various calculations for both cast-in and post installed anchors. If you have any further questions, please email your “.pe” file and the report to hnatechnicalservices@hilti.com.

Regards,
Ashley
