Anchoring to a thin concrete slab with topping slab

Hello. I have an existing condition where there is a 3" thick structural slab, with an additional 1.5" topping slab. I need to anchor to the UNDERSIDE of the slab (into the 3" structural slab). Are there any anchors that have a rating for a 3" structural slab? It seems the MINIMUM THICKNESS is always greater than 3" regardless of anchor type. Can the thickness of the topping slab be included for the MINIMUM SLAB THICKNESS (so I would anchor into the 3" structural slab with 2" embedment or so, with the anchor fully within the depth of the structural concrete slab), but I would use the combined structural topping thickness to meet the MINIMUM SLAB THICKNESS requirements.

Hi Russell,

The HDI-P TZ drop in anchor can be installed into 2.5" of concrete. Ultimately, all design decisions (including anchor selection) are at the discretion of the Engineer of Record (EOR) on the project.

Emily
