Anchoring new concret beam to existing, perpendicular concrete beams/walls

I am trying to use Profis to design the connection details for a new concrete beam intersecting an existing beam/wall. Profis seems to require that the existing member be wide enough to fully splice my bars, however, I am just trying to develop enough strength to carry the new beam through shear friction. It does not seem that I can turn the option to "Splice to existing reinforcement" off. I trying to use "Extensions" and the "structural joint" options. Am I going about this the wrong way?

Hi Aaron,

Within the structural joints module in the Concrete-to Concrete module in PROFIS Engineering, you are able to un-select the "splice to existing reinforcement" option. I have included an image of this below. Additionally, there is shear doweling/concrete overlay module that may be helpful.

If you have further questions, please reach out to hnatechnicalservices@hilti.com.

Ashley
