anchor to 2000 psi concrete on DSA project

Do you have any anchors that have ESR reports suitable for anchoring 2x4 sill plates to a 2000 psi concrete slab on grade?

Hi Jeff,

ICC ESR-2379 can be referenced for sill plate applications. Please note that the technical data is for a minimum 2,500 psi normal weight concrete. Hilti mechanical and adhesive anchor ESRs typically also have a lower limit of 2,500 psi, per ACI testing.

Best,
Sam

Dear Samantha, Thank you for responding but the ESR notes 2500 psi minimum and as I mentioned I need an anchor that is approved for use in 2000 psi concrete. Does Hilti have a product that I can use in this application? Or do you have a recommendation on how I might justify the use of anchors that don't have ESR values in 2000 psi concrete? Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Hilti does not have an approved product for 2,000 psi concrete. Hilti tested these fasteners per AC 70, Acceptance Criteria for Fasteners Power-Driven into Concrete, Steel, and Masonry Elements, where the 2,500 psi minimum is listed for sill plate applications. AC 70 is referenced in Section 6.0 of ESR-2379.

Onsite testing is recommended to justify if the fasteners are suitable for conditions outside of the ESR, such as lower strength concrete applications.

Best,
Sam
