Anchor Minimum Cover in Slab on Grade
Does a post-installed anchor need to meet the 3" minimum cover requirements in ACI for a 5" concrete slab on grade? (I.E., can a 3.5" embedment from top of slab be used in a 5" slab on grade?

Hi Ryan,
The minimum concrete thickness requirements for Hilti’s post-installed anchors can be found in Hilti’s Anchor Fastening Product Technical Guide as well as the ESR document for the specific anchor that you will be installing. For thin slab applications engineers often consider drop-in anchors such as the HDI and HDI-P TZ (technical data in Sections 3.3.12 and 3.3.13, respectively of the Anchor Fastening Technical Guide). Ultimately, the final decision will be up to the discretion of the Engineer of Record for the project.
