Anchor Bolt Strength Loss Percentage

Installing a 3/4" Hilti TZ2 - Stainless Steel
We accidentally drilled the anchor bolt hole 3" (center to center) off from the specified location in the middle of a wall (10 feet from any edge). The hole was Identified as incorrect position and filled with grout. We drilled the hole in the correct location and installed the anchor bolt. What we need to know for the inspectors is what percentage if any is the reduction in holding / pull out strength is lost by having a grouted hole 3" from the anchor.

Hilti Verified

Hi Patrick,

Please reference this previous Ask Hilti response. Hilti does not have test data regarding the effects of grout-filled abandoned holes near a newly installed (mechanical or adhesive) anchor. Onsite testing is suggested to determine suitability of the anchor in this condition. Ultimately, all design considerations are at the discretion of the Engineer of Record.

Best,
Sam
