We have an existing wood truss building that we want to add a 3-hour fire barrier wall to keep the square footage down and avoid fire sprinkler the building. Going to be very hard to work between the truss webs so were trying to see if there is any type of 3 hour lid or intumescent paint that would provide that opportunity.
Hello,
Unfortunately Hilti does not own any of the listing for floor or floor/ceiling assemblies so we will be unable to provide guidance on how to provide a rating to the assembly. We are only able to address penetrations through the floor and joints between rated assemblies. I would recommend reaching out to a gypsum manufacturer for how to construct a ceiling for this condition.
Our intumescent paint products cannot be used to provide a rating to a floor assembly in any condition. This product can currently only be applied to the structural steel members of a building to provide a structural rating for the members to still carrying their design loads under fire conditions.
Thank you,
