What type of expansion anchor would be recommended for a 2x10 wood ledger anchored to an existing solid masonry wall?

For anchor product selection help, please see Hilti’s Anchor Product Technical Guide from Hilti's website. Below are quick links to sections of the Tech Guide:

  • Anchor Selection Chart on pages 4-7 - a helpful comparison of Hilti's anchors
  • Section 3.3 Mechanical Anchoring Systems starting on page 261
    • The most commonly considered expansion/wedge anchor is the Hilti Kwik Bolt TZ2 which has testing into grout-filled CMU
    • Additionally, the Kwik Bolt 1 expansion anchor has testing into grout-filled CMU

 
Ultimately, all design decisions are at the discretion of the Engineer of Record (EOR) on the project.
