I have a surgery center going in a PEMB. There is a 1-hour sepeartion wall (UL419) with no good details. Our architect has not been able to satisfy the fire marshall for the head of wall condition. The state wants the cut sheets and the details on site for the 80% inspection. The problem is, we need to leave the vapor barrier and insulation in place to avoid condensation and mold happeing in the wall. The drywall company hung the sheetrock tight to the deck and wants to just fire-caulk the joint. The fire marshall says he cannot attest to the system because it's about a 20 year old building and we don't know the flame spread on the vinyl face. Surely there is some information about this as these buildings have been around for a long time now. I don't know how to satisfy all parties.
