What would be the recommended distance to take between anchors when the concrete breakout is controlling?

I was wondering if you could shed some light on what would be the recommended distance to take between anchors when using the Hilti software. Currently I am taking half the distance between the anchors the be conservative. This method is very conservative because Hilti takes this distance as an actual edge of the concrete when in actuality there is not really an edge. The reason I have been doing this is so that the shear cones do not overlap because Hilti does not have the capability of have two sets of forces applied in the same load combination. Since I can't apply two sets of forces, I cant see the shear interaction between them. Please advise if there is a better way of analyzing the concrete edge distance than just taking half of the distance between the anchors as the edge of the concrete. I will attach some reference images to help provide a clear picture of what I'm trying to convey.

Hi Tommy,

As stated, considering the midpoint of two anchors as a concrete edge is a very conservative method. To get the most accurate results you could model more anchors to reflect the actual anchoring points so that anchor spacing (rather than edge distance) is taken into consideration.

Ultimately, all design decisions are at the discretion of the Engineer of Record (EOR) on the project.

I would model the other anchors but I can only apply one set of loads to both sets of anchors because Hilti doesn't allow for multiple sets of loads to be applies in one load combination from what I can find. Is there a way to have two separate sets of loads (Two separate sets of the green, red, and blue arrows that represents the loads being applied to the anchors).

Hi Tommy,

There is not currently a way to model different loads on different anchors within one design in PROFIS Engineering.
