We are installing a (14) 4" long Bronze tapered hexagon lane rope anchors into an existing gunite wall. Diameter is 1" with staggered hexagons that steps down along the length at 1" intervals. I am planning on using a 1 1/8" carbide hammer drill along with a rebar cutter if needed. It is located in the back wall of a pool gutter which will be at water level but not submerged. I need a recommendation on the strongest anchoring epoxy suitable for wet conditions. Thank you
Hi Jim,
Hilti does not have any testing for any of our anchors installed into gunite base materials. Gunite is a mixture of sand, cement, and water and therefore, does not align with the base materials that Hilti has testing into: concrete, CMU, and multi-wythe brick. Hilti’s HIT-RE 500 V3 adhesive anchor is suitable for installations into submerged conditions; however, it is only approved for concrete base materials.
Since anchorages into Gunite are outside the scope of Hilti’s testing, the Engineer of Record could consider engineering judgement or on-site testing to account for variability in performance.
If you have any further questions, please reach out to hnatechnicalservices@hilti.com.
Best,
Mia
