Stainless steel HAS Rods in PROFIS

I have noticed in my example in PROFIS, when selecting a SS HAS rod with say HIT-RE 500 V3 system, I can't dictate which ASTM to use. In the sample print out attached, PROFIS is using an ultimate strength of 100,000 psi (ASTM F593). I would like to use ASTM 193 instead which has a ultimate strength of 75,000 psi. Is there a way to get PROFIS to use the minimum values for stainless steel rod design or choose the ASTM?

Hello Carlos,

Thank you for reaching out. The threaded rod used with an adhesive in PROFIS Engineering depends on the diameter of element selected in conjunction with ESR-3814 for HIT-RE 500 V3. This would determine the standard the element adheres to in the calculations. See below from Table 2 of ESR-3814.

More directly, Table 6A in ESR-3814 outlines the nominal steel strengths for each threaded rod, with Stainless Steel showing in the bottom two rows. As the element from your report is 5/8“ diameter, PROFIS Engineering pulls from ASTM F593.

The decision to evaluate the steel failure mode separately from what PROFIS Engineering calculates is at the discretion of the Engineer of Record.
