Reduced Installation Torque Value

Reduced Installation Torque Value

Given an installation where the Hilti HAS threaded rod would only experience shear loads, would there be an allowable reduced torque value and how would that affect anchor's capacity? Given the same installation in an overhead application, would a reduced torque value be allowed?

Hilti Verified

Hi Guy,

Since an adhesive anchoring system is not torque-controlled, using a reduced installation torque will not affect the performance of the anchor itself. Any installation torque may be used, as long as it does not exceed the maximum installation torque value listed in the adhesive's Instruction for Use. Exceeding the maximum torque value is outside the scope of Hilti's supportive testing and may affect anchor performance.

Reduced installation torque values may also be used overhead. Though Hilti's adhesive anchoring systems are approved for overhead installations, there are additional items to consider. For more information, please reference page 19 of the Anchor Fastening Technical Guide.

Regards,
Matthew
