Minimum required compressive strength of precast panels

Many of the design values for anchors into precast hollow core panels specify a minimum compressive strength of 7,000psi as shown in the footnotes of the tables. Is there an adjustment factor or formula that can be used to obtain design values for anchors into panels with a lower concrete strength?

Hi Juan,

Thank you for reaching out. As you mention in the footnotes of the referenced document, the minimum compressive strength is 7,000psi for Hilti’s published test data with hollow core concrete panels. The published results represent the average results conducted in local base materials. There is not currently a published adjustment factor or equation for compressive strengths less than 7,000psi. As such, in these conditions, the design would ultimately be at the judgement of the Engineer of Record on the project. In general, due to variations in materials and dimensional configurations, on-site testing is recommended to determine the actual performance.
