Epoxying an Anchor Rod adjacent to an existing abandoned rod
One of set-in anchor rods got run over and bent 90 degrees after the concrete set (1" D, 8" projection). My idea is to cut the rod flush with the concrete, then drill a hole adjacent to the existing rod, exposing some of it. Then I would like to epoxy a new rod in adjacent to the old one so that the epoxy is in contact with the old rod and the new rod. Is this a good strategy? and if so, is there a recommendation to how deep the new rod would need to be nested in the concrete pier?

I have seen that thread and it does not answer my question. My question is specifically about epoxying an anchor bolt adjacent to an existing anchor bolt, with the epoxy in contact with both bolts.

Hi John,
Unfortunately, Hilti does not have any testing or guidance for adhesive anchors installed with the adhesive coming into contact with both threaded rods.

Ashley
