Difference between HY100 and HY270

What is the difference between HY100 and HY270? I see that HY100 gives more capacity. Is it as available? Are there any issues that we should look out for?

Hi Abed,

Hilti's HIT-HY 100 and HIT-HY 270 are readily available adhesives. The Hilti Adhesive Anchor Selector and PROFIS Engineering are helpful resources to compare the anchors. A key difference between HIT-HY 100 and HIT-HY 270 is the base materials that the adhesives are approved for.

HIT-HY 100 approval documents: IAPMO ER-547 in fully grouted CMU and ICC ESR-3574 in concrete.

HIT-HY 270 approval documents: ICC ESR-4144 in Unreinforced Masonry and ICC ESR-4143 in hollow and fully grouted CMU & hollow brick masonry walls.

Best,
Sam

Hi Sam, I understand that this is a bit late to the initial comment, but I just found this and was hoping to get a little more clarification on these two products. When using these two epoxy types in PROFIS anchoring to grout filled masonry, I am seeing a difference in bond strength capacities when checking for shear only. I see an increased capacity with the HY100 however when looking at the products online, I see that the HY270 is more expensive. I guess I'm seeking out an explanation in distinction between the two products. When looking through and comparing the literature for the two epoxy types I'm not quite finding what I'm looking for. Thanks.

Hi Bruce,

The HIT-HY 270 is Hilti's masonry specific adhesive, where as HIT-HY 100 is an economical concrete adhesive that has additional testing for grout-filled CMU. The load capacities come down to performance during testing, as well as critical spacing and edge distance considerations. It can be possible for a cheaper anchor to perform better under certain conditions.

Regards,
Dani
