We are committed to the principles of the circular economy, which is the opposite of the old “take, make and dispose” industrial model.
This means we keep resources in use for as long as possible, extract the maximum value from them while in use, then recover and repair or recycle products at the end of their lifecycle. Hilti is an ISO 14001 Registered company. But our commitment to the environment only begins there.
Our commitment is aimed at enabling our customers to build greener buildings and reduce their environmental impact.
In our worldwide tool service center network, where our tools are maintained or repaired, we focus on the following aspects: energy, water, repair and reuse, recycling.
Our research and development centers in several countries take into account our eco-design principles that incorporate factors including energy use during usage time, less hazardous substances in the products, durability and serviceability and repairability.
The environmental impacts within the international network of Hilti plants, joint ventures and suppliers are in the areas of energy, water and waste.
The environmental footprint in warehousing and transportation within the company network is influenced by energy, waste and water.
The main driver of the eco-balance of our direct sales force, with approx. 200,000 customer contacts per day, is energy.
Hilti stores and customer service teams have to consider energy and recycling.
We conserve water in our production processes and day-to-day operations in many ways: from preventing leaks to creating closed water usage cycles and improving water treatment.
Our approach to cutting waste starts with implementing eco-design principles in our product development process to avoid unnecessary production waste and also includes waste management at all of our sites.
In both our eco-design and sourcing processes, we ensure that hazardous materials are minimized as far as possible.
